Suffield DTC Announces Slate for Fall Elections
SUFFIELD — Suffield Democratic Town Committee announced its candidate slate for the municipal elections on Nov. 5, 2013.
“We are excited to have a group of well-qualified candidates who are committed to the future of Suffield and bring a wealth of experience to their positions,” said George Beiter, vice chairman, Suffield Democratic Town Committee.

Tom Frenaye, former First Selectman and candidate for first selectman noted, “If elected, my priorities would be to improve communication between town government and our constituents, continue to support our great schools and work with other Boards, Commissions and residents to develop a long range plan for Suffield.”
Frenaye noted that over the past two years, Suffield has curbed spending to the detriment of necessary projects, including long overdue repairs to town buildings and maintenance of town parks.
“Rather than decreasing taxes, the town has accumulated much more money than necessary for emergencies”, said Frenaye. “We should use those reserves wisely to create a better community, and even reduce the tax burden on our residents.”
If elected, Frenaye would join selectmen including Democratic incumbent Brian Fitzgerald and Mel Chafetz, a newcomer on the Democratic slate, but staple in the community having retired as an elementary school principal and member of the library commission.
“This is a great team,” noted Beiter. “Tom, Brian and Mel share a vision of a great community for Suffield. One that is fiscally responsible and one that flourishes with a great community of schools, parks and rec, and public safety,” he noted, “and fewer pot holes,” he added jokingly.
Many of the 2013 candidates will be available to meet constituents Thursday, July 25, at the Suffield DTC Summer Reception, which will host Governor Dannel P. Malloy. The reception is from 5 – 7:30 pm at the Kochman Barn, 145 South Main St., Suffield. See www.SuffieldDemocrats.com for more information.
